Point and Shoot

By MsDilemma | August 22, 2010

This typical 2 1/2 yr old face started with me saying
“Hey, monkey…. you want to do some drawing with Mummy?”
“No, pwayschol pwease mummy”
“Playschool isn’t on so, lets do some craft like they do on Playschool”
“No Mummy…pwayschol”

So she sat there sulking (and very closely watching my every move) as I got out the pipe cleaners and started to make her a little butterfly ring.
I put it on her reluctant finger and I could see a little ray of hope breaking through the ‘ice princess’.
Of course she didn’t know what it was until I announced
“It’s your very own special butterfly ring”

And this was my reward for not having my own tantrum giving into the sulk and standing my ground with some quick thinking diversion.
And what a sweet reward it is
I love you monkey and I know it’s hard being a two and half year old ((hugs))

I ‘LIKE’ it !!!!!!

By MsDilemma | August 17, 2010

Right now I am feeling a little happy with myself.

You see, I have just spent four hours trying to work out how to add the Facebook ‘like’ button to my blog.

Yes, I said FOUR hours.

You see, when I decided to start up this little blog I was going to set it up through blogger.  I was discussing this with my friend at work Adam as he’s a bit of a technology geek (heh heh, he will kill me for that) and has started quite a few of his own websites.
He made the suggestion I go with WordPress .

‘Cause I  am gullible, a glutton for punishment,  respect Adam’s opinion, I went with his suggestion. Plus he stupidly kindly offered to help me with the admin side of things to help me out. Poor Adam….if only he really knew what he was getting himself into.
You see, I consider myself computer savvy, being able to work my way around a computer pretty well and (usually) I can get myself out of little hiccups along the way…………but holy bejebus……….you almost need to be a computer engineer to understand the technical side of WordPress.
Alright, I exaggerate, BUT you really do need to be able to think outside the box to be willing to understand what all the terminology means.

I mean seriously, AKISMET????? WIDGET?????? PLUGINS???? are you right with that MR WORDPRESS????

So when my friend Rachael suggested the other day that I put a FaceBook ‘like’ button on my blog for people that may be lazy not have the time to leave a comment, I thought ………yep let’s do it……. why the hell not.
I feel like i want to torcher myself and
PULL MY HAIR OUT AND SCREAM AND SHOUT AND SWEAR AT THE WORLD!!!

As my personality leans a little to the side of …….it can’t be that hard, I will just give it a little try rather than bug Adam to help me do it……..IT WON’T BEAT ME!!!*cough*…………. I threw myself into it this morning.
Which nearly ended up with me having a kanipshin fit right in the middle of my work place floor in front of just a few (100) colleagues.
But I would not give up and finally ………….FINALLY……………after many expletives, a five few cups of coffee and not much work actually being done
(oh and my work colleague Adrian letting me bash his arm a few times)
I DID IT.

Look down and you will see my hard work.

AND…YOU BETTER LIKE IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HAHAHAHA

We take it for granted, but putting your shoes on is a BIG DEAL for a 2 yr old!!
90% of me loves her independence, but the other 10% has me pulling my hair out!!!
I brace myself everyday for her 3 favourite words at the moment
I DO IT” !!!!

What now?

By MsDilemma | August 11, 2010

I am wondering if this is it ???
Has everything I’ve worked towards come to an end?
In general terms, you start your teens dreaming of being someone’s girlfriend, getting into the workforce and having a wonderful grown up life.
Then during your 20′s you explore your life through working, partying, being in and out of love, spending money, looking for Mr Right etc.
Then you hit your 30′s and your working, in love/planning to marry/ married to ‘Mr Right’, making a home together and planning/enjoying being a parent.

Then what?
What comes next?

Of course you watch your family grow, and enjoy and grow old with your significant half………..but WHAT ELSE????
Just wait to grow old?
I worked towards all of this for so long I forgot to think about what comes AFTER all of the above.
And I then wonder ……..am the only one to feel this way?
Does feeling like this mean I’m having a mid-life crisis?
What the hell does mid -life crisis really mean?
This is what Wikipedia tells me (well the abbreviated version) :
Used to describe a period of dramatic self-doubt that is felt by some individuals in the “middle years” or middle age of life, as a result of sensing the passing of their own youth and the imminence of their old age.
The result may be a desire to make significant changes in core aspects of day-to-day life or situation, such as in career, work-life balance, marriage, romantic relationships, big-ticket expenditures, or physical appearance.

Well that’s great.
If I go by Wiki, I’m having a midlife crisis.
Excellent.
Crap.
I want to get off this merry-go-round of procrastination and jump of and start planning my next two decades!!
