Left out in the cold……..?

By MsDilemma | March 3, 2011

I can’t believe I’m going to put this out there.

I must be losing my mind {ok, losing more of my mind}

To even realise I am thinking this way and wanting to say it out loud is so crazy.

BUT, I am thinking this…….and …… it hurts a little.

I sometime’s feel like Acacia doesn’t like me very much.

O M G

I said it.

delete delete delete…………….crap …………….DELETE.

*dear lord, please don’t let me be the only mother that thinks this way*

Hang on………………..I can’t be…………..there is a whole episode about it on ‘Everyone loves Raymond’

(this could possibly make my state of mind appear even worse comparing my life to a sitcom, but, what the hell)

Deborah was devastated the kids had more fun with the babysitter than with her.
When it came down to a choice the kids didn’t want to be with Mummy …………..and it hurt her.

So she sacked the babysitter and asked Ray’s mum instead.
That way when she tried to leave the kids with Ray’s mum they would hang onto Mummy.

I GET IT. I so would do the same.

My heart breaks when I see Acacia favouring someone over me.
Sometimes when we have one on one time, she will ask where Daddy is.

This sick feeling starts in the pit of my stomach and builds and builds to the point I want to scream

“Why are you flippin’ asking about Daddy!!”

WHY ARE YOU EVEN THINKING OF DADDY.

YOU SHOULD BE RELISHING IN THE COMPANY OF ME… MUMMY.

NOT ASKING ABOUT FRIGGING DADDY.

Shit.

What’s wrong with me.

I want to be the ONLY one Acacia wants to have around.

Not Daddy.

Not Nanny.

Not Poppy.

Just Mummy. Me. Moi.

When Deborah confesses Ray – he thinks it’s funny.
Then he realises how serious she is and tells her the obvious……..
the kids love you….. you don’t have to compete……….your number one ……….the kids love mummy.

The thing is , you know your being completely irrational.

Insecure.

Immature.

Hey, I’ll even chuck in a pathetic.

Maybe, when your the ‘tough’ one, the one that stands strong and follows through with the threats and discipline, you can’t expect to be the ‘favourite’.

Maybe, when you pick your parenting badge, you have to wear it.

No matter what the consequences are.

After all, they don’t call it ‘tough love’ for no reason.

Confessions #1

By MsDilemma | March 2, 2011

When things get hard I hide.

Hide away from the world.

My family … My friends … My husband … My daughter

I try to become the invisible woman.
{laugh} Not a bad effort when you weight as much as a bus.

But I still try.

Why?

Because no-one wants to hear the crap …… Only the good stuff.

They want you to make them laugh …… Not cry.

They want you to make them feel better …… Not worse.

So I continue to hide ……………….far…… far away.

So far …

Not even I know where I am.

Tattoo

By MsDilemma | February 10, 2011

I
Love
Tattoos

Yep... I admit it. L.O.V.E them.
Growing up my parents had a newsagency and I was spoilt with a never ending supply of books, magazines and cards. I became quite the reader and loved coming into the shop after school and plonking myself down and 'flicking' through the mags.
Much to the distress of my parents they quite often found me pouring through the tattoo magazines. Oh I can still hear it now..."Justine why on EARTH are you reading THAT??"
But I loved the art. I found it facinating the level of detail and colours & how you could 'decorate' your body.
Now I admit I'm not fond of ALL tattoos. I am defiantely not a fan of skulls/eagles/hearts with daggers/snakes/naked women (???) etc etc.
Just as I can appreciate tattoos aren't for everyone.

I do, however, hate the 'stigma' that goes with them.

I mean does barbie really look less pretty with these??

Ok, yes, she may look a little more ‘tough’ in that kind of ‘don’t mess with me’ way…but it doesn’t cheapen her…or does it???
I personally don’t see tattoos as cheap……I think people make themselves look cheap not tattoos.
If your wearing a ‘belt as a skirt’ with your g-string showing, low cut top with your lady lumps hanging out and sex shop heels then newsflash for ya ….. YOUR GONNA LOOK CHEAP with or without tattoos.

I challenge ANYONE to tell me these shoes look cheap ’cause she’s got a tatt……

Just GORGEOUS!!!!!
I have 3 tattoos.
Trust me it would be A LOT more if I had my way but my beautiful mum asked me to promise her to wait until I was 21 for my first – which I did – and to try not to get too many and be covered in them.
So because I have a lot of respect for my mum, I have listened, after all, she is older and much much wiser.
So I have chinese symbol on my shoulder for ‘friendship’ that I got at 21 with my long time beautiful dear friend Sonia.
(19 yrs later its in need of a little touch up as not done by the best tattoo artist)
I have two forget-me-not flowers entwined together on the inside of my ankle that I got to symbolise my relationship with Lindsay.
And the last one I got was last year in memory of the passing of my beautiful TOSCA -who was my furry companion for 17 years.
It’s her name across the middle of my shoulders.

I have two more planned – one being Acacia’s intial and the words ‘time to live’ in latin on my forearm.
Hardcore I know LOL.
If you have any and want to share I would love to see them!!!

Stupid Cupid !?!

By MsDilemma | February 8, 2011

I’m not really one for Valentines day.

Don’t get me wrong, I love romance……what I don’t like is society dictating to me when I should be romantic…….hello?
THE best kind of romance is when it’s spontaneous.

Right?

SO as I was saying, my defiance for Valentines day started as I was growing up as a plain overweight teenager {ok and well into my late 20′s}. The only Valentines I ever received were cards from either cruel peers as a joke or my mum or sister in sympathy.
G.R.E.A.T
Worked wonders for my self esteem {hmm.. thinking now that they should be paying for all my therapy?}

And my beloved Lindsay, bless his soul, would find it hard to be romantic even if cupid shot him with his arrow, threw him into into a sea of red roses and champagne, raining with with chocolates and diamonds.
Lindsay {being the realist he is} would just end up sneezing, drunk, on a sugar high and rich???!!!

But to be fair nice, he has bought me the odd flower and stuffed bear {in the early days} until we both admitted that we really do think its all commercial bullsh**
HOWEVER
I did come across a little Valentine’s day fun ………….and is actually the whole point of my post

{really Justine? how you like to digress}

During one of my many hours of Etsy surfing  ~ as you may have read here that I’m a little addicted to Esty.

{if you are an Etsy virgin I apologise to you now and take no responsibility for you impending addiction}

girl in gear studio has these eco friendly gorgeous Plantable Valentine Cards, which is both a sweet note and a wildflower bouquet!!!

The vellum greeting can be removed and saved, while the backing may be planted as a lasting reminder of your affection.

How ingenious is that!!!! You could present it in a little pot and plant it together in the moonlight with champagne……oh crap here I go again. Yeh yeh I know hopeless….It’s just so very sweet!!

For those of you that either have MANY hearts to break, lots of love to give, or have children just around the right age she also does mini-valentines which are both a sweet note and a mini flower bouquet.

Perfect for friends, and classmates, these little Valentines are an affordable, eco-consious way to spread the love on February 14th. {to be honest if I were still single and I had a few single girlfriends I would buy these for them and have a little party…. with champagne of course}

So, even in my disapproval for this commercial {and heartbreaking for some fragile single souls} silly Valentine’s day……..I found something on my beloved Etsy that has warmed this heart enough to give a little Valentines love on a day that I choose this year……now, where did I put my calendar and dartboard???
